Dear ADENA Partners, this time we would like to share a case study about another Erasmus+ project, this time from Siguldas State Gymnasium in Latvia, completed with Sensuslab (AREC Distributor in Latvia). Continue reading to find out how AREC solutions for speaker tracking, recording, streaming, and conferencing were instrumental in this educational project.

Siguldas State Gymnasium is one of the best and most prestigious schools in Latvia and the wider region, well-known for its brilliant graduates. It sets an example for all other schools by constantly developing new teaching methodologies for mathematics, languages, natural and social sciences. Gymnasium is able to accomplish this due to a number of factors, such as top of the line teaching staff, but also by utilising cutting edge AV technology to record and stream their activities. For these tasks, they rely on AREC.

In particular, the Methodological Center of Mathematics and Informatics recently upgraded one of their rooms. They needed a solution that could track active speakers in their auditorium, and also record, stream, and have conference capabilities. To achieve this task in the most cost-effective manner, a set of DS-4CU Speaker Tracking Station with Bosch CCS 1000 D Microphone System, CI-21H PTZ Network Cameras, LS-300 Media Station and RADA Bridge was implemented. Automatic speaker tracking by DS-4CU greatly reduced costs that normally come with creating a system capable of such tasks, and LS-300 made certain that all sources - DS-4CU, computer, and a general view camera - are always recorded and streamed in a preferred layout. FInally, RADA Bridge is used to take the combined image and output it in a video conference application, where it is displayed as a webcam and used as a microphone.

With their new upgraded auditorium, the Methodological Center in Siguldas State Gymnasium can hold visually striking online meetings and save them for future use. Generally, when it comes to classrooms, a simple combination of a recording/streaming device, a tracking camera, and a microphone is sufficient. With a lot of classrooms moving activities online, it is also necessary to have a USB option, such as an HDMI-USB converter. Such setup ensures that a lesson can be streamed, recorded, as well as led through a video conference app, and that no equipment needs to be controlled beyond starting the recording and streaming process (and even that can be automated). Fortunately, with AREC you have all the necessary elements to achieve this setup. For example, you can combine LS-200 Media StationCI-T21H Auto Tracking Camera (coming with AM-600 Wireless Positioner/Mic), and a RADA HDMI to USB Bridge. Or, if you want to have a mobile kit to record and stream from different places, try the Stay in Class set. Lastly, for the most cost-effective installation, consider LS-2TP-100CI-403RADA Bridge, and our latest accessory, AM-01B. This device functions as an extension of your USB port and a receiver for the AM-600/AM-601 sound. Moreover, it works with Media Stations and computers.

Dear ADENA partners, in this case study completed together with UNIT.DK (Official AREC Distributor in Denmark) we are looking at VUC Lyngby, a large and modern Danish educational center, and why it chose AREC for its AV needs. With many of its students only able to attend remotely, it became paramount for VUC Lyngby to have the right tools for both public and private e-learning. These needs were completely solved by AREC solutions and now the center can transfer their activities online to full extent.

VUC Lyngby is a center offering courses to young and older students and employed professionals in a variety of disciplines. It attracts students from all over the capital island of Zealand. It has more than 2000 students simultaneously taking courses, and more than 800 of them are full-time students. With that many students relying on VUC Lyngby, it is not surprising that the center started looking for e-learning solutions the moment pandemic restrictions were put in place.

This e-learning solution had to be highly functional, since VUC Lyngby provides courses not only in general subjects, such as mathematics, but also personalized courses for private companies, which must remain confidential. AREC solutions fit the bill perfectly with two products - LS-300 Media Station and RADA HDMI to USB Bridge. The Media Station is capable of streaming a fully customizable video that is made of three video sources with mixed audio to two popular CDNs at the same time (VUC Lyngby uses YouTube for this). And with RADA HDMI to USB Bridge, the center can also convert this same video coming from the Media Station and turn it into USB for use in video conferencing apps as a webcam (with the center preferring Microsoft Teams). In addition to that, AREC LS-300 can be controlled in a variety of ways - and in this case, VUC Lyngby opted for a Crestron control panel that made switching video layouts and graphical elements on the go as easy as it can be.

With a final touch of two PTZ IP cameras for the speaker and audience, and projectors for local image showing, the installation was complete and the center finished the e-learning upgrade task with A+.
