our latest updates

Dear ADENA Partners, our March case study comes from a prestigious Taiwanese university just a few metro stops away from us — National Chengchi University. This university enhanced calligraphy and traditional arts education with modern lecture capture and learning technologies, effectively using the AREC Media Capture System to improve the learning experience.

National Chengchi University (NCCU) is one of Taiwan’s oldest and most renowned universities. Originally founded in Nanjing in 1927 as a training institution for civil servants, it was later relocated to Taipei, becoming the first re-established national university in the country. Since then, NCCU has expanded its academic offerings to include programmes in mass media, diplomacy, linguistics, arts, humanities, and more. Due to its strong reputation and growing size, the university attracts thousands of students each year, with enrolment numbers continuing to rise.

However, NCCU’s excellence extends beyond that — it is also reflected in the design of its learning spaces.  A perfect example is the newly created Huimei Calligraphy and Arts Classroom. Inspired by the very subjects it teaches, the room features immersive décor that incorporates ink paintings and similar motifs. To complement this thoughtfully designed space, NCCU used the AREC Media Capture System, ensuring that students benefit not only from an inspiring environment but also from modern recording and streaming technology that enhances their learning experience.

LS-200 Media Station
LS-200 Media Station

At the core of the system is the AREC LS-200 Media Station. It is a recording and streaming lecture capture device that supports capture of up to two connected video sources allowing users to create professional-quality content at the press of a button. In the classroom, the station takes video from a third-party network camera and combines it with the view from a computer and a document camera.

The system is managed by the DS-AC1 Control Station, which simplifies switching between sources. The solution makes it simple for the user to switch to a desired recording and streaming theme, change video sources on the go, choose what to display on projectors and displays in the room, and operate camera presets.

In the classroom, controls for the DS-AC1 are accessed via a smart podium that houses all the AV devices. A small interactive screen on the podium shows the station’s control panel, while another shows the mixed video output of the Media Station — what it is currently recording and streaming. Inside the podium there is also a MiPro audio mixer paired with a PA Tech amplifier. These devices serve as audio sources for the LS-200 and are used to transmit sound to the room speakers. Additionally, an IPEVO document camera is mounted on the podium, providing high-definition images of hieroglyphs and other work.

The created solution will definitely help the NCCU make traditional art more digitally accessible, shareable, and vibrant for its students. Need to create a modern classroom? Contact us at www.a-dena.com, and let’s discuss how you can achieve more with AREC in your design!

Our core products — Media Stations — are standalone, all-in-one AV production systems with a wide range of applications across various industries. However, they shine even brighter when combined with other elements of the AREC ecosystem. In this post, we’ll explore some of the effective ways to bundle them for enhanced performance and features.

AREC CI-21H and CI-22H cameras naturally complement any Media Station thanks to their built-in tally lights that are integrated with AREC Media Stations. When recording is in progress, the lights on the connected cameras automatically turn on, providing a clear visual cue. This is especially valuable in installations where it is important to inform the audience of an ongoing recording.

AREC DS-AC1 control stations are also a great pairing for any Media Station for several reasons. These versatile devices can output and switch video sources on Media Stations, stream individual video sources, and send RS-232/TCP commands. Additionally, the DS-AC1 features a dedicated interface for Media Stations, similar to the Online Director, offering an intuitive and comprehensive monitoring and control environment.

The AREC DS-4CU and DS-9CU speaker tracking stations, supporting 4 and 9 channels respectively, enhance any setup with advanced capabilities — without the need for programming. Their primary function is to control cameras and automatically display active speakers using integrated discussion systems. When paired with Media Stations, the DS-4CU and DS-9CU can manage video recording and streaming through theme switching — a unique integration between our products. Additionally, they can function as video mixers for Media Stations, combining multiple inputs, such as cameras, document cameras, and computers, and delivering them through multiple outputs.

The DS-9CU excels in this role, as it can simultaneously manage up to nine video sources connected via HDMI, USB, or network inputs, while outputting video in 4K. Up to four of its sources can be in 4K quality, making it the perfect companion for the LS-410, our 4K Media Station. With the DS-9CU, the LS-410 can record up to five 4K video sources simultaneously in ultra HD while also benefitting from additional local and network output options.

The LS-200 Media Station was selected for live streaming and event recording. This two-channel device allows users to seamlessly combine multiple audio and video signals, recording and streaming them as complete videos. The station not only produces a fully composed video with user-generated overlay logos and background images, but also provides individual source recordings for post-editing and other purposes. Designed with the end user in mind, the LS-200 is extremely easy to operate and offers a wide range of control options, including support for customisable control solutions such as AMX, which was used in this case. HDMI matrices from AVPro Edge were integrated as video sources, enabling a variety of computers, cameras, and other devices to be combined and sent to the Media Stations, while Biamp TesiraForté DAN CI DSP units delivered pristine audio. Finally, Gude Systems products were used to automate all processes, reducing operational burdens, ensuring efficient resource use, and providing an uninterrupted experience for users.

The resulting solution significantly enhanced the quality and technical capabilities of the Catalonia Hotels & Resorts event spaces, setting a new benchmark for others in the sector.
