Greetings ADENA Partners, we are excited to share a story from Landakirkja, a beautiful church in Iceland. Proposed and installed by our partner ID Electronics, the AREC KL-3W Media Station has enabled the church to live-stream small and large ceremonies, connecting with those who may not otherwise have been able to attend.

Landakirkja, located on Heimaey Island, is the largest and most populous church off the coast of mainland Iceland. Serving a vibrant community of over 4,000 residents, it holds the distinction of being the third oldest church in Iceland. The church had long aspired to expand its services to include the local nursing home, where elderly residents were unable to attend in person due to mobility and other challenges. When the existing analog system proved inadequate for this purpose, ID Electronics introduced Landakirkja to the AREC Media Capture System and proposed a solution based on the KL-3W model.

KL-3W Media Station

The KL-3W is a 3-channel Media Station equipped with a built-in confidence monitor. Like all AREC stations, it stands out for its user-friendly design, featuring physical buttons for essential functions and offering live monitoring through a web page, among other control options. It is working together with two network cameras and an audio system in the church. It automatically mixes these audio and video sources, eliminating the need for church officials to dedicate their valuable time to these tasks. The combined videos are then shared on the church's YouTube channel. In the words of Gísli Stefánsson, a representative of Landakirkja, the timing of acquiring the station was impeccable: "When the pandemic hit, we were able to stream to all those that could not attend because of restrictions. That helped a lot”.

Landakirkja continues to use the station to this day, streaming various ceremonies in both public and private sessions. As the church's experience shows, having a reliable system like AREC Media Station becomes not just a convenience but a necessity. If your church is looking to ensure seamless connectivity with your community during uncertain times, reach out to us at www.a-dena.com and we will be happy to discuss your needs in detail.

Dear ADENA Partners, this time we are sharing a case study from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This university is already an experienced user of AREC systems, and now, thanks to the assistance of our partner STEPLine and system integrator Alceza, it added AREC Lecture Capture and Auto-Tracking to the law department auditorium to record and stream classes.

The university, also known as KazNU, first learned about AREC in 2018 when it was looking for innovative learning solutions that could help it increase its standards of teaching and simplify its media work. Since then, it has purchased and used various elements of the AREC Media Capture System, including KL-3W, LS-2, and LS-200 Media Stations, DS-4CU Speaker Tracking Stations, and AREC MSR platform. AREC systems proved to be reliable and user-friendly, replacing previous software-based solutions with ease. Taking this positive experience and the advice of our partner STEPLine, KazNU chose to install more AREC systems in its other faculties and auditoriums, starting with one of the law department auditoriums.

For this expansion, the university purchased a KL-3WT Media Station and a CI-T21H IR Auto-Tracking Camera. The inbuilt screen of the 3-channel KL-3WT model makes it so that the lecturers are always aware of what is being recorded and streamed. The graphical user interface on the screen also helps the lecturers quickly adjust which video sources are used, start and stop recording and streaming, and export recorded videos on a flash drive among other functions. The station takes the video output from a smart lectern and a CI-T21H camera mounted on a wall bracket. Its third channel is kept open in case a document camera or a second computer is required. The combined videos produced by the station are streamed to the university’s YouTube channel where they are available via private links.

As for the CI-T21H, it makes sure that the lecturers are always in view of the camera and allows them to focus on the class at hand. Moreover, the camera stays on the lecturers even if students enter the field of view since it is looking only for the AM-600 positioner - a particularly important feature when it comes to tracking in lecture halls.

The new installation in KazNU improves the experience for both lecturers and students.

Dear ADENA Partners, the past several years have seen incredible growth in the field of robotics - from practical service robots used in hospitality, to multifunctional scientific rovers on Mars. Acknowledging this growth, many schools and universities enable programs and championships, inspiring students to choose a career in robotics. One example of such an initiative is the international VEX Robotics tournament, which attracts more than 1 million students from over 20,000+ schools in 50+ countries yearly. In 2021, this tournament was held in Kazakhstan, in Shokhan Ualikhanov Private School.

To stream such an impressive undertaking, the school required powerful and reliable equipment. Naturally, AREC’s Media Capture System was the go-to solution presented by our official Kazakh distributor, STEPLine. Two AREC cameras were used to capture the tournament in Full HD - CI-T21 Auto Tracking Camera provided a general overview of the competition area, whereas CW-210 Wireless Camera was constantly on the move, following the competing robots. Both cameras were connected to a KL-3W Media Station, where they were mixed and shown simultaneously to remote judges and spectators through YouTube.

The KL-3W made it possible to customize streaming and recording layout just as the organizers envisioned it, as well as switch it with a click of a button to any other preset. The internal WiFi module of KL series stations further enhances their portability aspect, allowing users to pair wireless cameras seamlessly as evidenced by the championship.

One AREC Media Station and two cameras is all that the school required to stream this event. Is your organization looking to host an event as well? Reach out to us at www.a-dena.com and we will be happy to assist you too!
