Dear ADENA Partners, we would like to share an interesting case study from a District Court in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland. Our distributor Kontel and system integrator OST-Engineer equipped a special interrogation room with the AREC Media Capture System. This system is used to accurately capture and save interrogations of minors in a comfortable environment. Learn more about this solution below.

These days, Polish courts use what are called ‘Blue Rooms’. These are specially designed, friendly interrogation rooms for minors that are typically created outside of the main courtroom. The functions and equipment are necessary for such rooms are defined in Polish law. For example, the rooms must have a one-sided glass window to separate the prosecutors and defence lawyers from the interrogated child, but have the technical means for voice communication between them and the judge and psychologist conducting the interrogation. These rooms must have recording capabilities for audio and video, and capture the behaviour and expressions of interrogated children from every angle. Thanks to the efforts of our partners Kontel and OST-Engineer, the district court realised that AREC Media Capture System is the ideal solution for such rooms.

To capture the interrogation from every angle, the court is using a CI-21H PTZ network camera and two CI-303 static cameras. These cameras offer professional Full HD image quality and optical zoom, ensuring that the interrogation image is clear in every position. The operator controls the CI-21H and follows the child’s movements, while the static cameras with their 103° wide-angle field of view ensure that no details are left behind. The three cameras are recorded on an LS-300 Media Station, which mixes them in a single video and simultaneously records them separately for post-examination. The Media Station also uses ClearOne microphones as inputs: in the interrogation room, a 360° ceiling microphone collects all audio and removes unnecessary noise, whereas, on the other side of the window, the prosecution and defence address their questions through a gooseneck microphone. The whole system blends seamlessly in the environment: our cameras are mounted on brackets on the walls and are connected to the Media Station via network. The station itself is located behind one-way glass, ensuring that it does not disrupt the room design.

The court officials found the system reliable and very easy to use. Piotr Pałys, Head of the IT Section / IT Systems Administrator at the District Court in Dąbrowa Górnicza, commented that after some time from the implementation of the AREC solution, the system works perfectly and provides high-quality process material. The system ensures that children do not have to be interrogated several times and speeds up the court process significantly.

Dear ADENA Partners, we are excited to share with you a case study from the education sector. Our partner STEPLine successfully renovated classrooms of Kunaev Academy and equipped them with AREC Lecture Capture and Auto-Tracking PTZ cameras. The academy is now able to record lectures for students to recap and stream to a local server for the purposes of hybrid education.

Kunaev Eurasian Law Academy was established soon after the declaration of independence of Kazakhstan and rapidly came to the forefront of jurisprudence and legal education. While it started out as a law institute, in recent years the academy also focused on business education, offering courses to future economists, accountants, managers and entrepreneurs. To make sure that the business education provided by Kunaev Academy is just as valued as that of its other departments, the academy decided to build the most modern AV environment for education. To this end our partner STEPLine designed a solution that involves interactive displays, audio systems, video matrixes, as well as AREC Media Stations and Auto-Tracking Cameras.

To mix, record, and stream computer content and two cameras, Kunaev Academy uses AREC LS-300 Media Station - a rack-mounted model capable of recording 3 Full HD sources simultaneously. Lecturers use an LG Touch Display to make notes and display slides which are then recorded by the LS-300 and mixed together with the IR auto-tracking camera CI-T25H and static wide-angle network camera CI-303. The tracking camera follows the lecturer’s movements and adjusts zoom automatically to get the perfect shot, whereas the static camera CI-303 shows students attending in person. The computer image is duplicated on a display in the middle of the room, making sure that all students can see slides clearly, whereas another display shows the image from the tracking camera. An LD wireless microphone system is used to record the teacher's voice and additional microphones are passed to students asking questions. Lastly, an AUDAC system makes sure that all audio in the room is loud and clear regardless of where any student sits.

While they are only starting to use the equipment, Kunaev Academy already found AREC’s solutions to be very easy to use - all the teacher needs to do when starting a class is to press a button to record and stream the session to their private server. It now joins our long list of higher education institutions solving their lecture capture and hybrid education needs with AREC.

ADENA in partnership with AVsys (distributor in Peru) would like to announce the recent installation of AREC Media Capture System in the Catholic University of Lima. An effective set of KS-710, CI-T21H Auto-Tracking Camera and CI-303 Wide Lens Camera make sure that recording and streaming classes is a comfortable experience for professors and students alike.

Peru is a country with diverse cuisine, and that is reflected in gastronomy classes provided in the Catholic University of Lima. Professors pass their knowledge with computer slides and use supplementary material from DVDs to teach students about the tricks of making a perfect Ceviche and other unique dishes.

However, when the university realized their need to record and stream these classes, they encountered major issues. DVD player could not be connected to a computer, cameras were not mixed in the video, and sound had to come separately. Thus the university started its search for a system capable of such task - and it found AREC. KS-710, a 4 channel Media Station, allowed the university to record professor’s computer, DVD player, and both cameras for the professor and students. At the same time, these video inputs are mixed and streamed for the University’s benefit and in the layouts that are ideal for such classes. An important benefit of CI-T21H, in this case, is Auto-Tracking - professors have free movement in the kitchen, can turn around and show their culinary skills at all times. Auto-Zoom, another feature of CI-T21H, also assures that professors can move away from the camera and keep their image in close up. Lastly, CI-303 captures the whole audience in its wide lens view.

With AREC in place, Catholic University of Lima greatly improved the experience for students and professors. Would you like to know more about how AREC can help in your case? Contact us at www.a-dena.com and we will happily arrange a presentation for you.
