our latest updates

Dear ADENA Partners, this time we are sharing a case study from Italy, from the Socio-Cultural Centre of Malpensata in Bergamo. Our distributor Prase, system integrator Airone Service and programming expert Francesco Salvadeo created a versatile media capture solution based on AREC LS-110, QSC control system, Epson, Shure, Atlona, Novastar, and a few other brands. Seamlessly working together, our products deliver a user-oriented interface that will help the community centre involve more of its residents in all of their events and activities.

The Socio-Cultural Centre (abbreviated CSC) of Malpensata is the beating heart of the Malpensata neighbourhood in Bergamo. The CSC features a library, an exhibition showcasing the history of the neighbourhood, theatre, health and senior centres, and thanks to its strategic location, community gathering halls where all kinds of events take place. It was not simple for the centre to share these events on social media as they were not equipped for media work, but this changed with the recent renovation of the building. Performed in two stages, this process helped increase the seating capacity of the centre, made it energy efficient, but most importantly, prepared it to host hybrid events. Thanks to the work of our partners, the centre is now using the AREC LS-110 Media Station to ensure that every event taking place can be recorded and streamed.

LS-110 is a 2-channel Media Station that packs a lot of features in a very compact size. It can simultaneously record and stream two video sources, such as computers, document cameras, network and standard cameras, and other devices. These video sources, as well as connected audio sources, are mixed into customisable layouts that give the user the ability to effectively communicate their message. Additionally, the Media Station can add logos, advertisements, backgrounds, and other graphical elements that increase the video quality and its value.

While the LS-110 is self-sufficient and features numerous convenient control options, it also shines bright when put together with other advanced AV products. For instance, in the CSC, a Shure microphone system delivers crystal-clear audio into the LS-110, capturing audio from the presenters and other speakers. Another important connection is between the LS-110 and the QSC Q-Sys Core 8 Flex. Thanks to the partner-developed control module, all of the key LS-110 features are available in freely customised interfaces, which are different for operators and presenters. This elevates the user experience, as the users only see the functions they require, such as control of the recording and streaming process, volume, layouts, camera presets, and controls of the projector and other devices.

With the new systems from us and other brands in place, the Malpensata community centre will become an even more attractive spot to host, record, and stream events. Is your local community centre due for an update? Contact us to schedule a demonstration of just the right system for it!

Lastly, we would like to thank Prase Media Technologies, Airone Service and Francesco Salvadeo for continuously choosing AREC as the go to solution for media capturing and streaming tasks.

SDVoE is a high-performance, software-based AV-over-IP standard that can deliver HDMI signals over Ethernet with zero latency, with support of 4K, transfer of RS-232 commands, infrared control, and other features. As a brand specialising on AV-over-IP solutions, we fully support the development of SDVoE and are creating compatible products. Currently, we produce a line of transceivers called DS-MT1.

These devices have HDMI inputs and outputs that support up to 4K@60FPS, carry both audio and video, and can transmit signals through a dedicated 10G network. They can be used in a variety of environments, including universities, companies, healthcare institutions, houses of worship, and many more, primarily to deliver signals of the greatest quality and without delay.

DS-MT1 is controlled through a special application called AREC SDVoE Matrix that you can download on our website. This application allows users to deploy DS-MT1 in a video matrix, video wall, and group modes. When using DS-MT1 units in a video matrix mode, users can choose for any DS-MT1 to either show its own input source on the connected output, or to display a source connected to any other DS-MT1 in the network. When using DS-MT1 units in a video wall mode, users can define a single DS-MT1 to act as the source image transmitter that is then displayed by other DS-MT1 units on connected video wall panels. The software currently supports 2x2 to 9x9 video wall sizes. Lastly, in the group mode, users can assign different groups of DS-MT1 units to receive content from particular DS-MT1 transmitters. The control software doesn’t limit how many group and video wall modes you can have simultaneously in the same project, and so you can freely switch between different scenarios in a matter of one click.

While DS-MT1 can be installed with all kinds of AV brands and products, the perfect companion for it from our Media Stations range is definitely LS-110. This 2-channel station supports 4K input and output, and so it is able to fully utilise the advantages of SDVoE technology in transmitting stunning content over IP. Using these two products together lets you record, stream, and backup your computer content and other AV devices, like cameras and mixers, while preserving 4K quality on all local and remote video walls, displays, and projectors connected to the DS-MT1 units.

There are currently 8 Media Station models in the LS/KL series. All of these devices share core features, such as recording, streaming, automatic backup, calendar scheduling, video layout, overlay, background controls and more. But there are certain differences that can help you choose the right model for your needs. We’ve previously covered some of these unique differences in the ADENA Hack №54, and so this time we are diving deeper into the topic.

ree

To begin with, we can divide the Media Stations into three categories - 2, 3, and 4 video

channel models. By channels here we mean the maximum simultaneous number of video sources that a Media Station can work with. 2 channel models are LS-US2(N), LS-110, LS-2, and LS-200, 3 channel models are LS-300 and KL-3T, whereas 4 channel models are LS-400 and LS-860(N). Within these categories, these models are different from each other in terms of their AV inputs and outputs, as well as certain unique features.

For example, we’ve highlighted the unique feature of LS-110 in ADENA Hack №33. LS-US2’s unique feature is its ability to work with USB video inputs and also an optional NDI-HX licence. LS-2 and LS-200 are both rack-mounted stations, with the LS-2 being a more budget model. As for the 3 channel models, KL-3T is defined by its inbuilt touchscreen, which makes it perfect for placements on lecterns, podiums, and mobile usage. Lastly, in the 4 channel category, LS-860 is defined by its multiple HDMI and 3.5mm line/mic inputs, optional NDI-HX licence, and inclusion of a specially integrated accessory called ARECast.

Precise differences between the Media Station models can be examined via our comparison table. Take a look at it by clicking here, or access it anytime through our main page www.a-dena.com -> Resources -> Catalogues -> AREC Media Station Comparison Chart.
